Esref Ruya – Episodi 46 Pjesa 2

Esref Ruya – Episode 46 Part 2

Summary of the Episode

The second part of Episode 46 plunges deeper into the dark, twisted mind of the Old Man (İhtiyar), the aging patriarch of a vast criminal empire. He reveals his philosophy in a chilling monologue: “Since my greatness, I have always fought. With my enemies. With Baba Jakup. With shadows. I won everything. I became alone. But in the end, do you know what happens? The earth will swallow me. And the world will keep turning as if nothing happened. I will not bow to this.” He explains that ancient kings carved their names into stone because everyone is born with the same fear—the fear of being erased. His grandchild, he declares, will be his eternity. Neither Eşref nor Nisan can prevent this.

The Old Man then recounts his past. He was stabbed by someone he trusted—Eşref’s father. “You changed,” he tells Eşref. “He plunged the knife right here. But I did not die. I was accused. I fell into prison, into prisons. I was beaten, blown up. I read, I prayed. But I did not die.” He survived, he believes, through a divine or dark power. Now, he is obsessed with one thing: the unborn child of Nisan and Eşref. He wants the baby as his heir, his legacy, his immortality.

Character Roles and Motivations

The Old Man (İhtiyar) – The main antagonist. He is elderly, sick (suffering from a rare muscle disease called Pompe), and desperate. He has built an empire on fear. “Everyone stands because of my fear. The whole city stands because of my fear,” he boasts. But he knows he is dying. His only hope is to raise his grandchild as his successor. He tells Eşref: “I will follow my blood. That baby will be my future.” He is willing to destroy anyone who stands in his way.

Eşref Tekin – The protagonist. He is Nisan’s lover and the father of her unborn child. He survived a gunshot to the head—a bullet remains lodged in his brain, too dangerous to remove. The doctor warns that removing it could cause permanent paralysis, speech loss, or worse. The bullet has fragmented and embedded in bone. Eşref suffers from headaches, insomnia, light sensitivity, and rage outbursts. Yet, he is determined to rescue Nisan. When he wakes from a three-month coma, his first word is “Nisan.” His friends find a crumpled note in his pocket—placed there by Nisan—that reads: “I will come back, Nisan. No matter what, I will come back.”

Nisan – The pregnant daughter of the Old Man. She is imprisoned in her father’s mansion, surrounded by armed guards. She refuses to eat. She tells her mother, Gülümser: “I don’t want any of this! I want my freedom! My baby needs his father! I will never give my baby to that man! He will turn him into himself!” She devises a desperate plan: she will pretend to have a miscarriage. She hopes that if she bleeds, the guards will be forced to take her to a hospital, where she might find a phone or a way to escape. Her mother is horrified: “Nisan, have you lost your mind? Do not do this!”

Gülümser (Aysel) – Nisan’s mother and the Old Man’s estranged wife. She is trapped in the mansion with her daughter. She tries to calm Nisan, but her own pain is raw. She tells the Old Man: “You are sick. You had my brother killed. You took my life from me. Now you want me to sit in front of you as if nothing happened?” She does not believe her husband’s promises.

Kadir, Gürdal, Irmak, Professor, Hafize Ana – Eşref’s loyal friends and allies. They have guarded him for three months. They are the “orphans”—a brotherhood of men who grew up without families. They share intelligence, track down leads, and prepare for the final assault. Kadir discovers that the Old Man suffers from Pompe disease. Gürdal updates Eşref on the chaos in the city: “The orphans have started acting on their own. The Old Man has cut through the city. Even Hıdır is nowhere to be seen.”

The Doctor (Nedim) – A trusted physician who treats Eşref in secret. He warns that Eşref’s condition is critical but stable. He also reveals that the Old Man’s illness requires expensive medication imported from abroad.

Key Conflicts and Plans

The Old Man’s Plan: He wants to keep Nisan locked in his mansion until she gives birth. He then plans to raise the child himself, cutting Eşref out entirely. He offers Eşref a deal: “Come work with me. Lead this family. Continue what I started. If not, I will spare your life, but you will stay away from the child.” Eşref refuses.

Eşref’s Plan: He will recover, gather his forces, and storm the mansion. He knows he has only one chance. His friends are already investigating the Old Man’s network. They have a lead: a company with no ties to criminal activity, which may be a front.

Nisan’s Desperate Plan: She will simulate a miscarriage. She hopes that the guards will rush her to a hospital, where she might find a way to contact Eşref or escape. It is a gamble with her baby’s life.

Gülümser’s Dilemma: She is torn between protecting her daughter and obeying her husband. She tries to negotiate, but the Old Man is immovable.

The Emotional Core

Despite the violence and scheming, the episode has moments of tenderness. Eşref wakes from his coma and reaches for the crumpled note Nisan left in his pocket. Gülümser tells a bedtime story to her unborn grandchild (whom she has named Rüya – “Dream”). She recounts how she met Eşref: a wild, feared young man who carried darkness in his eyes. She realized that the dream he had been chasing for years was actually her. “Fate first separates two people, then returns them to each other.”

She tells the baby: “When your father finds us again, everyone’s dream will come true.”

In Episode 46, Part 2, the battle lines are drawn. The Old Man wants a child to carry his name. Eşref wants to save the woman he loves and his unborn baby.
