Halef – Episode 35 (Part 1): Feuds, Betrayals, and a Wedding at Risk
This first part of the season finale sets up a complex web of emotional conflicts, family feuds, and dangerous conspiracies in the traditional setting of Urfa. The episode focuses on the impending wedding of Serhat and Yıldız, which many want to stop – by any means necessary.
Main Plot Points
The episode opens with a traditional storyteller narrating the famous legend of Zeynep and Halil – two lovers from rival families who ran away together, got lost in a forest, and were later found dead in a cave, still embracing each other. The narrator then reveals that the current story is similar: Serhat and Yıldız have never left each other, unlike Zeynep and Halil, and they will be happy.
But immediately, tension explodes. Serhat storms into a room, furious because his mother and Meryem Hanım have been arrested and taken to prison. He confronts Yıldız, accusing her of betrayal. He shouts, “I went to every lawyer so my mother wouldn’t go to prison! Shame on you! You put my dearest one in prison!” Yıldız tries to calm him, but Serhat is beyond reason. He warns that he forgives once, but not twice.
Yıldız defends herself, reminding Serhat that they did what had to be done – justice must apply to everyone equally. Serhat, in his rage, retorts, “Where is my Hicran? Where is the woman I love?” This is a crucial moment – it reveals that Serhat still mourns his lost love, Hicran, and that his relationship with Yıldız is complicated by past wounds.
The scene shifts to the prison. Meryem Kordağlı and Sultan Yelduran arrive. Meryem declares herself the “Hanım Aga” (Lady Aga) of the Kordağlı tribe, and Sultan as the Hanım Aga of the Yeldiran tribe. But another prisoner, Rezzan (the aunt of Hicran, the deceased girl), confronts them. She blames them for what happened to her niece and her brother. She warns them that in this prison, she is the Hanım Aga now – their power ends here. She orders them to clean the toilets and make tea. The power struggle between the tribes continues even behind bars.
Meanwhile, preparations for the wedding are underway. Nurgül (pregnant) asks her husband Halefcan to buy her exotic fruits like mangosteen and dragon fruit – much to his dismay about the high cost. This provides a lighter, humorous moment.
Melek confronts her fiancé Yıldırım. She accuses him of being incompetent and unable to stop Serhat and Yıldız’s wedding. In a fit of anger, she removes her engagement ring and breaks off their engagement, saying she will stop the wedding alone. She then collapses in pain, holding her stomach – Melek is pregnant, and the child is not Yıldırım’s. This is a major twist.
Ziyan (a powerful figure) is approached by Sinan (the groom’s relative?). Sinan explains that his daughter (likely Melek) is obsessed with stopping Serhat and Yıldız’s wedding. Ziyan and Sinan then plot to kill both Serhat and Yıldız. Sinan suggests a car accident at the village school opening. Ziyan orders his man Rahmi to sabotage the car so it crashes into the Euphrates River. He also reveals that Akif (another character) tried to cause Melek to miscarry – Akif is dangerous to Melek and her unborn child.
Nurgül and Halefcan continue their comic relief, arguing over expensive fruit and Halefcan’s frozen bank cards (which Serhat has cancelled, forcing Halefcan to live on a salary like a regular employee). Halefcan is furious.
The episode then moves to the school opening in a village. Serhat gives a speech, dedicating the school to his sister Hicran (presumably deceased). He says the school will ensure that girls in these lands can stand tall and not be forced to stay at home. He then invites Yıldız to speak.
Yıldız delivers an emotional speech. She talks about the hardships she faced as a girl born in these lands, but says the hardest thing was seeing girls who couldn’t go to school because there was no school in their village. She says this school will teach them to read, write, and most importantly – to stand proudly in these lands. She mentions Hicran, who never gave up despite great difficulties, and urges the young girls to carry her legacy with honor.
After the ceremony, Yıldız and Serhat drive back together. Serhat receives a phone call from his doctor friend Sercan, who tells him about a new experimental treatment in Spain that could help Serhat have a child. Serhat is overjoyed – he tells Yıldız that there is a chance they can have their own child. Yıldız is thrilled.
But while Serhat is distracted on the phone, he loses control of the car. Yıldız screams for him to pay attention and use the brakes. Serhat yells back, “What do you mean ‘release the brake’?” The car speeds up. Yıldız screams, “Serhat, stop! Serhat, stop!” The episode ends on a cliffhanger as the car appears to be heading toward disaster.
Parallel to this, Melek argues with her mother. Her mother tells her she made the right decision to break off the engagement with Yıldırım, but Melek is still in love with Serhat. Her mother warns that this obsession could harm her or the baby. Melek insists she is doing everything for the child.
The episode ends with Yıldırım receiving a phone call from Rahmi, who says, “We did what you said, Yıldırım Ağam. Soon you will receive good news about Serhat and Yıldız.” Yıldırım smiles. Then Melek tells someone (perhaps Yıldırım), “Put the ring on my finger… the rest is up to Yıldırım.” The final shot shows the speeding car.
