Halef – Episode 34, Part 3
Opening: Threats and Confrontations
The episode begins with Ziyan Ağa toasting to his daughter’s wedding, but the atmosphere is tense. Serhat confronts Meryem Hanım (Yıldız’s mother), telling her that she will not just be expelled from the mansion – she will be sent directly to prison. He reveals that the relatives of Cebrail (with whom Meryem spoke) recorded her conversations, and the recordings were given to Melek, who then gave them to Serhat. Serhat tells Meryem that she is the “Meryem Ana” (Mother Mary) of the situation, implying she is not untouchable.
Akif and Nurgül’s Expulsion
Akif and Nurgül are furious about being expelled from the mansion. Akif declares that Serhat married Yıldız and will raise Melek’s child in the mansion’s courtyard, after which no one will be able to stand against him. But Akif swears that this is not over – his name is Akif Yelduran, and he will return. Nurgül laments that no one loves them, but Akif says people fear their potential. Serhat’s men inform them that they will be sent to the old mansion on the Mardin road. Akif and Nurgül are shocked – they expected to be sent somewhere better, not Mardin. Nurgül panics, but Akif tries to console her, saying Mardin has good food and their child will get used to the flavors. Despite their anger, they are forced to leave.
Yıldız’s Impossible Choice
In a private moment, Serhat tells Yıldız that the decision about Meryem is hers to make. He reminds her that they are now husband and wife, and she is the lady of the tribe. She must choose: either her mother’s freedom, or the honor of the tribe. He gives her until morning to decide. Yıldız is deeply conflicted.
Meryem’s Plea and Memory Lapses
Meryem calls Yıldız and panics. She reveals that Ziyan secretly recorded her voice, and the recording was given to Serhat. She begs Yıldız to destroy the recording. She also reveals that Sultan Hanım (Serhat’s mother) was the one who gave the order to kill Hilmi and Nergis – Meryem was only a mediator. She warns that if she burns, Sultan burns too. After the call, Meryem forgets whether she has taken her medication, showing possible memory problems.
Yıldız’s Decision
Yıldız does not destroy the recording. Instead, she makes a bold decision: she calls the authorities. Meryem Kordağlı is arrested for the murder of Hilmi and Nergis Özdeli. Meryem is shocked and betrayed. She cries out that Yıldız would never do this, but it is too late. Ziyan Ağa mocks her: “The star you raised in your bosom did not hide the crazy ones. She reported you.”
Serhat’s Confrontation with Sultan
Serhat confronts his mother Sultan. He thanks her for giving birth and raising him, but then he removes a ring from her finger. He says the ring took away her motherhood and mercy, made her forget the scent of Karagül (a black rose), gave her power that became oppression, and took lives. He declares that the ring can no longer remain on her finger. Sultan begs him not to do this, but Serhat is resolute.
Then, Yıldız reveals another truth: during her phone conversation with Meryem, Meryem told her that Sultan Hanım was the one who wanted Hilmi and Nergis dead. Yıldız declares that if Serhat is the leader, and she is the lady, everything must be fair. Therefore, Sultan must also face punishment. Immediately after, Sultan Yelduran is arrested for inciting the murders of Hilmi and Nergis Özzel. Sultan screams that Serhat is not Yıldız’s husband and that the ring belongs to her – she will give it to Melek, because Melek will give her a grandson.
Melek’s Role
Melek is shown watching everything. Earlier, she had declared that if Serhat does not keep his promise, she will not keep hers – her child will not be raised in the mansion. She also gave Serhat until noon to act. Now, with Meryem and Sultan both arrested, her conditions seem to be met.
The Side Story: Renaz’s Illness
A parallel storyline involves Aşir and his son Renaz, who has leukemia. The doctor tells them that the test results are incompatible. However, the doctor explains that in stem cell treatment, siblings have a high compatibility rate. If they have another child, Renaz’s chance of recovery would increase significantly. This adds a layer of personal tragedy and hope.
Akif and Nurgül’s Humiliation
At the old mansion in Mardin, Akif and Nurgül arrive to find no staff waiting for them – only a single, half-deaf elderly man who claims he will do everything himself. Nurgül is horrified. She says that no leader grows in such a place, only servants. Akif vows revenge against Serhat.
Final Scene: Yıldız’s Transformation
The episode ends with Yıldız fully embracing her role as the “lady of the tribe.” She tells Serhat that he was right – she must no longer think like a girl, but decide like a lady. Her mother made a mistake and must pay for it, so that no obstacle remains for Melek to bring her child to the mansion. She then hands Serhat the evidence. She also reveals that Sultan was behind the murders and demands that Sultan face justice as well.
The final lines are a flashback to Yıldız’s mother Ayten’s advice: “If you want to be happy with Serhat… you must do everything to get rid of those who want to take his place – his brother Akif, his wife Nurgül, and most importantly, his mother Sultan. Whoever stands in your way, do not pity. Even if it hurts, cut off that finger. This is the only way to be happy in that mansion.”
Yıldız has followed that advice completely.

How This Part Ends
This part ends with a major shift in power. Both Meryem Hanım and Sultan Hanım are arrested. Yıldız has fully embraced her role as the lady of the tribe, choosing the honor of the tribe over her mother’s freedom. She has followed her own mother Ayten’s final advice to be ruthless.
Serhat has removed his mother’s ring – a symbol of her power – and allowed her to be arrested, showing that he prioritizes justice and Yıldız over his own family.
Akif and Nurgül are exiled to a dilapidated mansion in Mardin, humiliated but vowing revenge. They remain a future threat.
Melek has achieved her goal: Meryem (her parents’ killer) is in prison, and Sultan (who ordered the murders) is also arrested. Her child will now be raised in the mansion without obstacles.
The episode ends on a dark, victorious note for Yıldız, Serhat, and Melek, but with clear warnings that Akif will return and that the cost of this power has been high – Yıldız sacrificed her own mother, and Serhat sacrificed his.
The final image is a reminder of Ayten’s words: “If your finger becomes gangrenous, do not wait for it to spread to your whole body. Even if it hurts, cut it off. This is the only way to be happy in that mansion.” Yıldız has done exactly that.
