Summary of Part Two: “The Unwanted Apprentice”
The second part begins with the emotional and practical fallout from the decisions made in Part One. The episode masterfully weaves together three separate storylines—the farm, the corporation, and past relationships—that are now on a direct collision course.
Storyline 1: The Farm – Preparing for the Enemy
Back on the farm, Yaman is visibly nervous about his upcoming meeting with Hulusi Arcalı in Istanbul. His best friend, Burak, tries to calm him down, joking about Yaman’s fear of fainting (a trauma from a past romantic encounter) and teasing him about the “annoying” rich girl (Doğa) they met at the waterfall. Yaman insists he is not nervous, but his behavior suggests otherwise. Meanwhile, Perihan (Yaman’s aunt) is seen setting up Yaman’s childhood room with albums and personal items, hoping to evoke sympathy and remind Hulusi of their shared past. She believes that if Hulusi sees Yaman’s childhood photos, “this job is done.” This shows her strategic, almost maternal, manipulation of nostalgia to save the family farm.
Storyline 2: The Meeting – Success and Suspicion
In Istanbul, Yaman (now wearing a suit) and Burak arrive at Arcalı Holding. Doğa is shocked and furious to see Yaman there. She immediately becomes suspicious, accusing him of being a stalker, a fortune hunter, or even an industrial spy. She cynically asks if his appearance is because she is the sole heiress or because she is beautiful. Yaman calmly identifies himself: “Yaman Demir.” Hulusi Arcalı enters, sees Yaman, and is visibly moved—he remarks that Yaman is the spitting image of his late father. The meeting proceeds positively. Yaman presents his organic farming and livestock project. Hulusi is impressed, calling it “bravo” and emphasizing that setting a goal is the most important thing in business. They shake hands, and Hulusi’s advisors also approve.
Doğa, watching from the sidelines, is forced to admit that Yaman “carries the suit well” but remains convinced there is something strange about the “coincidences.” Her father then drops a bombshell: he wants Doğa to go to the farm for six weeks as an “apprentice” to learn the business from the ground up. Doğa is horrified, arguing that organic farming is nothing special—”you just water it and it grows by itself.” Hulusi challenges her: if it’s so easy, she should do it. He makes a high-stakes deal: if she works hard for six weeks and convinces him, he will open the best boutique for her in Paris. If she refuses, he will cut her salary, cancel her credit cards, and take her car. Doğa reluctantly accepts.
Storyline 3: The Ex-Boyfriend – Mert’s Return
In a parallel subplot, we are reintroduced to Mert (Doğa’s ex-boyfriend, first seen in Part One’s interview scene). He runs into Doğa’s best friend, Vera, at a gas station. They have a tense, flirtatious conversation. Mert reveals he was planning to go to America but has decided to stay and focus on a construction project. There is clear unresolved romantic tension between them. Vera later confesses to Doğa that she was actually impressed by Mert on the day they first met him, but she hesitated because of a “loser type” (likely Yaman) who was also there. She recounts a touching memory of finding Samsa (Doğa’s dog) shivering in the rain outside the company, which made her fall for Mert. This subplot adds a layer of romantic complexity and suggests that Mert will remain in the picture.
The Final Twist – The Apprentice Arrives
The part ends with a dramatic phone call. Hulusi calls Yaman and asks if he can send “an employee” to learn the business for six weeks. Yaman, eager to please his new investor, enthusiastically agrees. Hulusi then reveals: “You’ve already met, my daughter Doğa.” Yaman freezes and the line goes silent. Doğa, meanwhile, packs an absurd amount of luggage, thinking she is going on a “holiday.” Her mother, Adile, wants to go with her, but Hulusi insists she goes alone to truly learn. As Doğa drives toward the farm, we see a separate car following her—Burak, tasked by the family to secretly follow her and report back.
The final scene shows Doğa arriving at the farm. Perihan greets her warmly, but Yaman is cold and hostile. When Doğa complains about her small, rustic room (a “grain storage room”), Yaman firmly tells everyone: “No one will give my Doğa special treatment. She is one of the workers here.” He then wakes her up brutally early the next morning, shouting “Good morning!” and telling her that staff breakfast ends in 15 minutes. Doğa is clearly out of her element, and the tension between her and Yaman is now at its peak.
Main Roles in This Part
-
Yaman Demir: The proud, hardworking farm owner. He is nervous but professional during the meeting. He is deeply suspicious of Doğa and resents her privileged attitude. He becomes her strict, unforgiving boss.
-
Doğa Arcalı: The spoiled, ambitious heiress. She is furious about being sent to the farm, which she sees as beneath her. She is paranoid about Yaman’s intentions but is forced to comply with her father’s ultimatum. Her ignorance about farming (“just water it and it grows”) highlights her disconnect from reality.
-
Hulusi Arcalı: The wise, manipulative patriarch. He uses the farm investment to both help his fellow villagers and to teach his daughter a lesson about hard work and humility. He is clearly moved by his past connection to Yaman’s late father.
-
Perihan (Hala/Aunt): Yaman’s strategic aunt. She uses emotional manipulation (childhood photos) to secure the deal with Hulusi. She represents the family’s resilience and deep-rooted connection to the land.
-
Burak: Yaman’s loyal, humorous best friend. He provides comic relief, teases Yaman about fainting, and is secretly tasked with following Doğa.
-
Mert: Doğa’s ex-boyfriend. He is handsome, successful, and flirtatious. His decision to stay and his unresolved tension with Vera add a romantic subplot.
How This Part Ends
The second part ends on a major cliffhanger of forced proximity. Doğa has arrived at the farm as an unwilling apprentice. Yaman, who despises her, is now her boss. The final scene shows Yaman waking Doğa up at dawn with a loud “Good morning!” and informing her that she has 15 minutes to get to breakfast or she will go hungry until lunch. Doğa is exhausted, humiliated, and completely out of her comfort zone. The “six-week adventure” has begun, but it is clearly going to be a battle of wills between the proud farmer and the spoiled city girl. The audience is left wondering: will Doğa survive farm life? Will Yaman’s hidden anger toward her father’s past come to light? And what will happen when Mert and Vera’s romance inevitably intersects with this main conflict?
