Daha 17 – Episode 1 -Part 1
The story revolves around Aras, a young man who has been searching for his younger brother since childhood. After losing his family in a traffic accident, Aras spent years in Istanbul, moving from one dormitory to another, following every possible lead. He is now in Bodrum after receiving anonymous notes claiming his brother might be there. At the bus station, a one-eyed middle-aged porter secretly leaves a phone and a note in his bag, reinforcing the clue.
Aras enrolls in a new school: Bodrum Education Foundation High School. On his very first day, he gets into a conflict with Teoman, the arrogant and powerful student who is the sole candidate for student president. Teoman comes from the Akkaya family, one of three wealthy families controlling Bodrum. His mother is the head of the school’s foundation. Aras defends a bullied student and stands up to Teoman, immediately making an enemy.
In class, Aras is unfairly thrown out by a strict teacher, Celal Hoca, for being late. Another student, Deniz, defends him and also gets kicked out. Deniz is from a modest family — his father works for the Akkayas, and he attends the school through a quota. The two quickly become friends.
Aras also meets Leyla after a bicycle accident. She is a popular, kind-hearted girl, daughter of Şebnem Hanım, who works closely with the foundation. Leyla’s friends, Ezgi and Sıla, are curious about the mysterious new boy. Leyla senses Aras is different and shows him kindness.
Meanwhile, Teoman is furious that someone dared to oppose him. He threatens Aras and tries to intimidate him. However, Aras does not back down. He decides to run against Teoman for student president, encouraged by Deniz and Leyla, who are tired of Teoman’s dominance.
Parallel to the school drama, Aras continues his secret search. He meets Metin, a local who becomes his ally. Aras explains his past: after the accident, he was hospitalized for a long time, and when he woke up, he learned his younger brother had been given up for adoption. No one would give him details. He has been searching for six years. Now, the anonymous notes point to Bodrum.
Other characters include Nuray Abla, a caring worker at Leyla’s home, and Meryem, the household help. Leyla’s mother Şebnem is busy organizing school events and seems controlling but also generous. Leyla’s brother Teoman (yes, the same Teoman — Leyla and Teoman are siblings) is aggressive and spoiled.
The first 40 minutes blend two main threads: Aras’s emotional, lonely quest to find his lost brother, and his clash with the privileged, corrupt system at school, represented by Teoman. Despite being an outsider with torn clothes and an old phone, Aras shows integrity, courage, and a strong sense of principle. He refuses to stay silent or let others be bullied.
The tone is dramatic, with moments of warmth (friendship with Deniz, kindness from Leyla) and tension (fights, humiliation in class, the student election challenge). The episode ends with Aras determined to find his brother, while also preparing to face Teoman in the election — setting up a battle between an orphaned truth-seeker and a powerful, entitled family.
